The U.S. Army Research Laboratory hosts the 19th fastest computer in the world and we are seeking a highly motivated, self-starting individual interested in this challenging opportunity.  Come, join us as we support The High Performance Computing Modernization Program (HPCMP) in providing cutting edge services and technology to this, and many other Super-Computers at the ARL-DSRC.
The qualified candidate will provide multi-disciplinary support on a variety of operating systems to include RedHat, CentOS, SuSE and VMware products.  Duties will include supporting High Performance Computing Assets, software which supports the HPC systems and the infrastructure resources at the ARL-DSRC.
The candidate will be engaged in the spectrum system management/administration activities of all infrastructure resources and their associated test system(s).

  • Must be a US Citizen
  • Must have a current Top Secret Clearance
  • Must be 8570 Compliant (Minimum Security+ and Linux+)
  • Strong experience with Virtualization, preferably VMWare products.
  • Must have experience with logical file systems, client/server environments and system management tools.
  • Knowledge of DoD Security Policies (STIG)
  • Demonstrated initiative, customer orientation and team work competencies.
  • Strong writing and communication skills.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • General Linux administration, i.e. security patching, Operating System upgrades, troubleshooting and ensuring maximum availability.
  • Schedule and perform system maintenance in coordination with the Sys-Admin team.
  • Write and maintain automation scripts (Bash, Perl, etc).
  • Evaluate and install patches, resolve software and hardware related problems and perform OS updates.
  • Troubleshoot and debug issues that arise in production, test and development environments.
  • Provide VMware maintenance to include applying updates, system upgrades and general VMware maintenance.
  • Attend meetings with the customer to understand requirements, change requests, and defect reports.
  • Provide technical guidance, recommendations, and resolutions to your teammates and other on-site vendors.
  • Obtaining, managing, deriving, and analyzing of accounting, auditing, performance, and utilization data.
  • Capacity and migration planning of new software and hardware products.
  • Assisting the ARL DSRC teams with trouble-shooting and problem determination as it pertains to local applications and Linux resources.
  • Additional duties include maintaining system documentation, tuning system performance and evaluating new software packages.
