The qualified candidate will provide multi-disciplinary support for a variety of applications utilizing RedHat and CentOS Operating Systems.  Duties will include supporting High Performance Computing Assets and COTS/GOTS software supporting the HPC systems and the infrastructure resources at the ARL-DSRC. The candidate will be engaged in full spectrum application activities.
The candidate will assist the user community at the ARL-DSRC, located at Aberdeen, MD supporting the High Performance Computing Modernization Program (HPCMP), DoD Supercomputing Resource Centers (DSRC) with emphasis on support at the Army Research Laboratory (ARL-DSRC). The successful candidate will:
  • Support the user community with GOTS and GOTS implementations and provide support for job tuning and optimal adaptation to existing and new Supercomputers.
  • Provide installation, configuration and support for COTS, GOTS, and open source software for ARL-DSRC community while providing oversight and second-level support.
  • Assist the ARL-DSRC community and provide assistance with the PBS and SLURM job scheduler. These tasks will include identifying and assisting users with job failures, scheduling issues and as they relate to productivity, job status, job failures and job submissions.
  • Must be proficient in C, C++, and scientific programming applications.
  • Must be proficient in bash, python and other shell codes.
  • Provide guidance to junior customer services teammates and Team SAIC staff
  • Support the user community with High Priority jobs and job submission.
Required skills:
  • Must have a current active Secret Clearance
  • The candidate must have excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to effectively interact with other teammates.  Interface with the HPC system administration team while providing support to ARL-DSRC management.  This is a unique opportunity to work with some of the fastest systems in the world solving the most complex issues in the DoD.
  • Must have experience working with complex HPC architectures.
  • Strong experience with HPC job scheduling utilizing PBS Pro scheduler and scientific programming applications in an HPC environment.
Basic Qualifications
  • Must be able to balance tasks in a dynamic work environment as part of a multi-faceted team, providing leadership and guidance with other Team SAIC teammates.
  • Interacts well with customers with varying degrees of experience ranging from junior to heavily experience and represents the ARL-DSRC well in all situations.
Desired skills
  • Multiple scientific programming applications languages
  • Strong experience with COTS/GOTS application and application support
  • High Performance Computing experience desired
  • Must have strong compiling experience to support both local and remote staff
  • ITIL Cert is a plus
